LHM-Ethiopia conducted its usual package program at Errere from Jan12-15, 2012. Errere is about 150km mainly on a gravel road west of the capital Addis Ababa. ETS workshop was conducted for109 participants of which all of them were commissioned. 90 of them responded as the workshop was educative and gave them skills to engage them in the Gospel work. 52 prayer requests were made. Films were shown to over 500 attendants of whom 92 respondents enjoyed the film they were shown. On Sunday worship gathering 180 Bible Correspondence Students were honored for having finished their 20 lessons in Amharic and Oromiffa.

We conducted the package programs from December 29 – January 1, 2012. ETS workshop at Checho 272km from Addis Ababa pass Hosanna for 104 participants of which 104 of them were commissioned. The road was rough and stleepery that made two of the tires goes flat.

Other activities that accompanied ETS workshop were done. Films were shown from Thursday to Saturday evenings. The first night we show the film in the church while on Friday and Saturday we were forced to shown to a larger crowed in the open market place. Thus Jesus film was shown to over three thousand crowed for the first time at Checho.

Evangelism rallies were conducted by evangelist Alemayehu and a soloist on Saturday and Sunday worship services. Mr. Berhanu Moges also served on Sunday worship gathering besides being engaged in ETS workshop Friday and Saturday with his team. Few responses 33 film viewers and 28 ETS workshop participants were only collected since most of the trainees were illiterate.

At Katchise, 193km from Addis Ababa all-weather road but rough. We conducted the package programs from December 15-18, 2011. ETS work shop was held for 142 participants of whom 135 were commissioned Out of these workshop participants 107 gave us prayer request.. Evangelism rallies were attained by a large crowed from Friday to Sunday.

Jesus’ film was also attended by a large crowed on Thursday and Saturday evenings. Of the large crowed only 108 film viewers responded that they were blessed by the film.

Shone is some 140 km in the Southern part of Ethiopia. LHM-Ethiopia was there from Dec.1-4, 2011 and successfully conducted ETS Workshop, film show, BCC graduation and other activities. For the ETS workshop over 100 participants from evangelical churches of which 86 of were commissioned for having completed the two days training on the modules.

Towards the end of the ETS workshop certificates were handed over for 23 BCC graduates and 86 ETS participants by the senior pastor of Shone KHC church and LHM Ethiopia director.

ETS workshop was held from November 4-5, 2011 at Meta-Robi Evangelical Congregations numbering registered 120 of which 110 of them were commissioned for having successfully attended all the Modules given by director Berhanu Moges and Tesfaye Dinssa who assisted him.

Film viewers!

Thursday to Saturday three nights’ film shows and two days evangelism rallies were done. As the result two people who have drifted away from faith have renewed their trust in God. Besides twenty three Bible Correspondence Courses students were honored by the director at the Sunday worship gatherings where over two thousands attendants.

In attempt to raise fund locally received a total amount of Birr 3,899.70 by way of Booklet, Cape with the Logo of LHM / God Bless You, T-shirt distributions and Sunday church and ETS participants offerings. This in USD was $227, 65 at Birr 17.13 exchange rate to a dollar in USD.

Kowada is a small village in Endegagn District in the Southern region and is 262km far from Addis Ababa. It is surrounded by three major zonal administrations Gurage, Hadiay and Silte. Kowada is a new area for LHM- Ethiopia ministry. The Endegagn Christians fellowship invited LHM-Ethiopia to conduct ETS workshop, Evangelism rallies and film show. We conducted the package programs from October 20 to 23, 2011. About 83 Leaders and ministers of the churches have participate the ETS workshop. During the evangelism rallies and film show that were held from Thursday evening to Saturday afternoon nine people have come to faith in Jesus Christ and are referred to the church. The following is a pictorial view of the events.

Successfully held ETS workshop for one hundred eleven participants of which one hundred three of them were commissioned for having completed the 7 modules including Muslim Evangelism at Kabetcho.

Since Mr. Berhanu Moges, LHM Ethiopia director was busy in the facilitating the visiting team program, Mr. Solomon Hebistu and Tesaye Dinsa gave the training.

Films were shown on Friday and Saturday nights to over two thousands attendants in the popular market place where many Muslims viewed the films easily by night. What they saw by the cover of the night helped them to put their faith in Al Messi Isa in broad day light.

One elderly Muslim at the age of 80 was convinced to come to faith in Jesus Christ and join the evangelical church by his own choice in public while Mr. Berhanu Moges was preaching.

A young Muslim also followed the decision of this elderly Muslim man who not only publicly declared faith in Jesus Christ but also gave his private plot of Land for the church to build Church services. All together over three thousands crowed were present on Sunday worship gathering.

14 Bible Correspondence Course (BCC) students received their certificate from the Africa, Middle East and Jamaica Area Counselor at the sight of Sunday worship gathering that numbered close to over three thousands.

The visiting group has met church leaders on their assembly led by Rev. Dr. Berhanu offga general secretary of EECMY and Mr. Paulos Shune Associate Secretary of the church. The Synod Secretaries Assembly was held at the Ethiopian Evangelical Church Mekane Yesus. The visiting group led by Mr. Eric Gates has gave words of greetings to the assembly members.

Muslim workshop was held from October 3 – 4, 2011 at Mekane Yesus Multi purpose Training center for 46 participants coming from Muslim dominated areas in Ethiopia. The Training to LHM-Ethiopia contact persons and church leaders was given in coordination with Ethiopian Evangelical churches fellowship led by Mr. Shifera Seid who has come to a Christian faith from Muslim background. He serves as coordinator for Muslim evangelism under the auspice of Evangelical Churches Fellowship Office.

The lesson focused on reaching Muslim friends positively as friends by accepting them as co-sharers of worshipping one God creator of heaven and earth. It was told that Koran has many positive things about the Bible and Jesus Christ.

Summer Bible Quiz Contest

Bible Quiz prepared by LHM-Ethiopia to encourage School boys and girls to use their summer vacation by reading the Bible culminated on October 6, 2011 by handing over prizes to winners at Gulele Bethel Mekane Yesus Congregation. A Bible gift was presented to four outstanding youth who memorize and read few chapters from the Gospel of John. They studied and recited chapter 1, 2, 4, and 7 by heart.

The senior pastor of the Congregation Rev. Tessema Ayallew and Rev. Goffere Adisho of Mekanissa Mekane Yesus Congregation handed over the Bible prizes to Shalome Mulugeta. Shallom stood first both in the youth and BCC students’ bible Quiz contest. she also recited John Chapter 7 by heart got and got full bible in Amharic plus trophy as special award where as the rest Mehret Kebede, Frehiwot and others who stood 2-5 were awarded English dictionaries and full Amharic Bible for scoring the highest point in the contest and for having recited John Gospel chapters 1, 2 and 4.

Besides the drama volunteer group presented "the Hour of His Coming" an Amharic drama on the second coming of the Lord Jesus Christ. Twenty eight viewers’ responded as they were touched by the drama they saw. Besides the drama play there were literature reading and Cerographic presentation.

Bezunesh Gamme a sightless lady was one of the contestant who won a Bible prize.

LHM-Ethiopia has conducted the fourth round Bible Quiz on the Gospel of John chapters 6 and 7. The summer Bible quiz contest was held at Mekanisa Mekane Yesus Congregation hall on August 19, 2011. The school boys and girls engaged in time with the Bible in this current school vacation. Thirty three students took part where Mehret Kebede and Bethel Fekade were very happy to win T-shirts for doing good job at the competitions. One of the surprises encountered in this competition was that few of the contestants have studied some of the chapters by heart and they were able to recite it at the church altar. Besides the contestants were fewer than fifties years old and below eight grade students.

One of the girls who stood first is named Shalom Mulugeta. Shalom scored 100% in all of the four quiz contests. She was asked how she studies the part of the book that was set for the quiz and she answered that she studies the whole chapter by heart. When we did the survey for those who appeared for the quiz 10 out of thirty three responded that they will study the portions by heart.

Viewing a film, Nick an Australian born without hand and leg working hard but handles his life and was a challenge to many including the 27 people with healthy hand and feet to walk and work.

One of the participants Ato Tullu Yemer thanked LHM Ethiopia for the gift and the word of God he heard. By saying ” May the almighty God reward your efforts”.

On the occasion Mr. Berhanu Moges shared the word of God. He also sang few Gospel Songs. Then 5kgs flour, 2 packets of Spaghetti and 2 pieces of washing soaps were distributed to 27 of them each.
